Basic Hand Attacks

Oi Zuki - Basic Forward Punch

Oi Zuki, known as the lunge punch or stepping punch, is a foundational Karate strike that leverages forward body momentum to generate maximum power. It is characterized as an "equal-sided" punch, meaning the striking fist corresponds directly with the front leading leg (e.g., stepping forward with the right leg and punching with the right fist)

Gyaku-Zuki - Reverse Punch

Gyaku-zuki, is a fundamental karate technique commonly known as the "reverse punch." It is executed by striking with the rear hand, which is the opposite side of the forward leg (for example, punching with the right hand while the left leg is forward). It is widely considered one of karate's most powerful and effective strikes

Choku Zuki - Straight Punch from Kiba - Dachi Horse Stance

Choku Zuki, translated as the "straight punch," is the foundational fundamental punch (kihon) in Karate. It is typically the very first striking technique taught to beginners, practiced from a stationary, natural stance like Heikō-dachi (parallel stance) or Kiba-dachi (straddle stance) to isolate and master upper-body mechanics before advancing to moving punches

Uraken - Backfist - Strike

Uraken Uchi — Backfist Strike:
This is a whipping, snapping strike rather than a linear thrust. You swing your arm from the elbow or wrist to hit the opponent with the back of your fist, specifically targeting the first two large knuckles. It is incredibly fast, features minimal telegraphing, and is aimed primarily at high targets like the face, nose, or temples.

Nukite Uchi - Spear Hand Strike

Nukite is a traditional karate hand strike known as the spear-hand strike. Instead of using a closed fist like a standard punch, the hand is held open and rigid, using the fingertips to pierce or thrust into vulnerable soft-tissue targets.
